Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vladimir Shyschuk


Born on November 8, 1956 on Bukovina in a family of doctors. Since 1973 he studied at the doctor's faculty of Chernivtsi State Medical Institute. He graduated in 1979 with a degree in "Medical Business" and began to work as a doctor-intern in the Sumy regional hospital. In 1980-1982 he worked as a doctor at the ambulance station. Since 1982 - trauma surgeon in the 1st Sumy city hospital. From 1985 to 1987 he studied in clinical internship on traumatology and orthopedics at the Kharkov Research Institute. In 1994 he defended his PhD thesis on "The place of external fixation rod (PEF) in the treatment of fractures of the humerus." He was awarded a bronze medal VDNH USSR for the development of the core units. Since 1996 - assistant of the department of general and faculty surgery at the department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Sumy State University. For ten years, since 2001, he has served as head of the department of orthopedics, traumatology with courses of anesthesiology and intensive care, emergency conditions, urology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation and sports medicine at the Medical Institute of Sumy State University. October 17, 2002 awarded the academic title of associate professor. In 2003 he became head of the Clinic of Traumatology and Orthopedics of Medical Institute of SSU. Since 2003, V. Shischuk is a member of the Board of Orthopaedic Trauma of Ukraine. In 2011 he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic: "The damage of the locomotor system of patients with multiple injuries as a consequence of road accidents in rural areas (travmogenez, clinical features of traumatic process, principles of medical care in the prehospital and early hospital stages) ". In 2012 he was awarded the academic title of professor. Since 2013 V. Shischuk is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural History in the industry of "Medical sciences". Vladimir's work is  associated with the study of many areas and the problems of orthopedics and traumatology, but he pays special attention to issues of polytrauma. He is the author of over 200 scientific publications. He is engaged in research in the field of orthopedics and traumatology, applies research results in practice during surgical interventions. Proceedings of V. Shischuk are known and found recognition in Ukraine and beyond its borders. The results of scientific activity are described in numerous scientific works, including 4 monographs, 5 textbooks. He has two invention and two patents.
